CURREX Alsterlauf

Alsterlauf Hamburg is a fast, city-centre road running event in Hamburg with start and finish at Ballindamm. The races take place on flat, fully paved, officially measured loops (World Athletics/AIMS standard) with clear kilometre markers and traffic kept off the course, making it a strong option if you want a reliable time result or a smooth first race experience. The programme includes a 10 km race, a 5 km race, a 1 km kids’ run (Schülerlauf), and the R5K “sub 22” race for young, ambitious runners as part of the national R5K-Tour series. Expect a classic lake-side setting around the Alster (10 km around the Außenalster; shorter races mainly on the Ballindamm loop, with a possible Binnenalster variant), a straightforward race-day setup, and a big-city running atmosphere.

Practical notes for participants: arrive early for bib pickup and start preparation, as each distance has a fixed start time. Timing is done via a transponder integrated into the bib (timing fee applies unless you have a BMS chip). Bag drop is available; there are toilets and basic changing tents, but no showers. Spectator-friendly central location, but parking in the inner city is limited—public transport is recommended. Every finisher receives a commemorative medal, and results/certificates are published online after the event.
