Rimi Riga Marathon – 16–17 May 2026 The Rimi Riga Marathon returns for its 36th edition on 16–17 May 2026, welcoming tens of thousands of runners from more than 100 countries. Recognized as one of Europe’s leading World Athletics Road Race Label events, it is not only the largest running celebration in the Baltics but also a major driver of tourism and culture in Latvia’s capital. Over the years, the event has grown into a festival of movement for all ages and abilities. Distances include the Marathon (42 km), Half Marathon (21 km), 10 km, 5.7 km, the DPD Mile, and the hugely popular Kids’ Day races. Courses follow the same world-class routes used for the 2023 World Athletics Road Running Championships, praised for their speed, scenic beauty, and record-setting potential. The race begins in the heart of Riga, guiding runners through cobblestone streets of the UNESCO-listed Old Town, across bridges with views of the Daugava River, and past the city’s iconic Art Nouveau architecture. The entire city joins in—with enthusiastic spectators, live entertainment, and a festival atmosphere that makes Riga unforgettable. Beyond sport, the marathon plays a key role in the city’s international identity and economy, drawing more than 40,000 participants and generating millions in economic activity. It also supports the “Movement for Movement” charity campaign, helping children with mobility impairments.
