Istanbul Half Marathon is built for speed — a flat, low-altitude 21K that runs through the city’s Historic Peninsula and along the water, with long, fast stretches beside the Golden Horn and the Sea of Marmara. It’s the kind of course where elites chase big times and everyday runners come to chase their own PB, supported by dense crowds, strong aid-station coverage and smooth big-city logistics. What makes this race special is the contrast: you’re racing a modern, AIMS-certified half marathon while passing layers of history that span thousands of years — old city walls, waterfront promenades and skyline views that feel uniquely Istanbul. With a lively start/finish area, volunteer energy and easy access via international flights and public transport, it’s a standout choice for anyone who wants a fast time and a memorable race-weekend in one of the world’s most iconic cities.
