LifeStar Malta Marathon

LifeStar Malta Marathon 2027 is one of the Mediterranean’s most established road races and the 42nd edition of an event that has been held since 1986. Scheduled for Sunday, 28 February 2027, it brings runners to Malta for a point-to-point race experience that combines historic surroundings, a fast net-downhill profile, and a coastal finish in Sliema. The organizers describe it as Malta’s largest, fastest and most loved marathon and note that both the marathon and half marathon use World Athletics and AIMS-certified routes.

What gives the event its character is the route itself. Both the marathon and half marathon start outside the ancient walls of Mdina, Malta’s medieval capital, and descend toward sea level before finishing in Sliema. The official route description states that both courses are predominantly downhill, starting at around 190 metres and ending by the sea, while the final kilometres pass through waterfront areas including Pietà, Msida, Ta’ Xbiex, Gżira and Sliema. The wider race experience adds to the appeal, with a half marathon, walkathon and 5K alongside the full distance, making the weekend suitable for both serious runners and participants looking for a scenic destination race in late winter.
