Nattvasan 2027 brings one of Vasaloppet’s most distinctive ski experiences back to the historic trail between Sälen, Oxberg, and Mora on 5 March 2027. Unlike the classic daytime races, Nattvasan turns the Vasaloppet track into a nighttime adventure, where skiers move through the darkness guided by headlamps, stars, torches, and fires along the course. The event is part of Vasaloppet’s Winter Week 2027 and offers three distances — 30 km, 45 km, and 90 km — making it accessible both to newer participants and to experienced long-distance skiers looking for a more unusual challenge.
What makes Nattvasan special is not only the setting, but also the format. Participants can enter individually, and in the longer races they may also compete in teams of two. The event uses freestyle rules, meaning both skate and classic skiing are allowed, and the courses follow the legendary Vasaloppet route toward the famous finish portal in Mora. The 90 km race starts in Berga by, Sälen at 20:00, while the 45 km and 30 km races start in Oxberg, with the 45 km beginning at 20:00 and the 30 km at 19:00.
For participants, Nattvasan is less about pure race speed and more about atmosphere, endurance, and the rare feeling of skiing one of the world’s most famous long-distance routes at night. It combines the heritage of Vasaloppet with a more adventurous and immersive mood, making it one of the most memorable events of the Swedish ski season.
