Lidl São Silvestre City of Porto

Lidl São Silvestre City of Porto returns on 20 December 2026 as one of Portugal’s best-known year-end road races, with a format built around a 10 km race and a 5 km walk/run in Porto. Organized by Runporto, the event sits on the city’s 2026 race calendar and follows the pattern of recent editions that have turned it into a large festive gathering rather than just another local 10K. That scale matters for first-time participants: recent official reports said the 2024 edition drew 16,000 participants, while the 2025 edition brought together around 18,000 runners and walkers, showing that this is a major December event with real crowd energy and a strong community feel. What makes the race especially appealing is the mix of atmosphere and accessibility. In recent official editions, the event started and finished on Avenida dos Aliados, right in central Porto, and organizers described the race as filling the city streets with a festive evening atmosphere and strong public support. Independent race guides also frame it as a classic late-December urban run through Porto, with the 10K suited to people who want a proper timed effort and the 5K offering a more relaxed option for families or less competitive participants. The route details for 2026 do not seem to be fully published yet, but based on recent editions and race listings, this is best understood as a big, lively city-centre race that lets you finish the year in a memorable way rather than chase a sterile “perfectly controlled” PB environment. There is also a practical side that makes the event more participant-friendly. Previous official information pages show support services such as bag drop, and external listings mention typical inclusions like a finisher medal, event shirt, timing chip, drink stations, and medical assistance. Another detail that gives the race a bit more meaning is its charity component: Runporto has previously linked the event to a food collection for Legião da Boa Vontade in Porto. For someone considering the December 2026 edition without knowing the race yet, the clearest picture is this: a large and festive Porto 10K with a strong local identity, a practical 5K alternative, and the kind of atmosphere that works well both for experienced runners and for people who simply want to end the year with a memorable run.
