Königsforst Marathon – Cologne’s Nature-Focused Running Classic

The Königsforst Marathon is one of Germany’s oldest nature marathons, taking place in the green heart of Cologne since 1973. Set in the beautiful Königsforst forest, on the edge of the Bergisches Land, the event offers a variety of distances, including a half marathon, full marathon, and an ultra-distance of 63.3 km.

Known for its peaceful woodland trails (85% off-road), small-group starts, and a strong community spirit, the event combines speed, sustainability, and personal achievement. In 2025, multiple course records were broken, showcasing the fast and scenic nature of the route.
