Kärnten Marathon

Internationaler Kärnten Marathon Carinzia Koroska is a full weekend of running in Feldkirchen (Carinthia, Austria) with routes that mix a lively town setting and a real nature highlight: parts of the course pass through the Natura 2000 “Bleistätter Moor” near Lake Ossiach (Ossiacher See). It’s built like a festival, so you’ll see everyone on the start lists: marathon and ultra runners, half marathoners, 5K participants, walkers and families with kids. The event runs on 26–27 September 2026, with bib pickup and late registration available on both days, and the main races taking place on Sunday. The program is broad but simple to understand. The longest option is the Super Marathon (50 km), which follows the marathon route and adds extra laps through the Bleistätter Moor section. The classic Marathon (42.195 km) is the headline race and is promoted as the only full-distance marathon in Carinthia, combining Feldkirchen’s surroundings with the protected nature area. The Half Marathon (21.1 km) gives you much of the same scenery in a shorter format. For a mid-distance challenge, the Quarter Marathon (10.5 km) takes runners from Feldkirchen into green countryside and past Marienburg in Rabensdorf, and it also has a walking version. If you want something short and energetic, the 5 km City Run (and 5 km City Walk) loops through Feldkirchen’s old town with historic views and a classic city-race vibe. There’s also a Kombi (15.5 km) that combines the city run and the quarter marathon experience into one longer effort. For families, the Junior races offer kid-friendly distances (300 m / 1,000 m / 2,000 m) with a safe, clearly guided setup and a strong “everyone finishes” atmosphere. Practical expectations are straightforward: Saturday includes bib pickup plus a briefing for the longer races, Sunday is race day with multiple start times, and the overall finish closure is set for late afternoon—so even slower-paced runners and walkers can plan calmly. Overall, this event is a great pick if you want a mix of proper competition energy, beautiful Carinthian landscapes, and a friendly festival feel in one weekend.
