Heuvelland Marathon – A Scenic Race Through the Hills of South Limburg

The Heuvelland Marathon is a unique running experience set in the rolling, picturesque landscapes of South Limburg, the Netherlands. The 6th edition takes place on March 15, 2026, offering both a full marathon (42 km) and a half marathon (21 km), with plenty of elevation and stunning views.

In 2026, the route runs eastward from Maastricht to the iconic Three Borders Point in Vaals, passing through charming villages like Gulpen and Vijlen. Participants can also take part in relay teams of 2 or 4 runners, with transitions allowed only at designated aid stations.

Prefer walking? On the day before the run, hikers can complete the same breathtaking course at their own pace. Especially the 42 km is a real challenge for experienced walkers.

With well-marked, car-free trails, a finish at the highest point in the Netherlands, and a focus on nature and charity (supporting the children’s cancer foundation KiKa), the Heuvelland Marathon is not just a race—it’s a memorable and meaningful experience.
